Approach
A question discovered through reading
In our first meeting, we’ll begin with a set of passages and discover the question or theme that will guide the tutorial. I’ll then create an individualized path through the poem for the remaining four meetings.
The guiding question might center on gods and mortals, Penelope’s transformations, storytelling and self-invention, hospitality and power, or mortality and homecoming. Our work will draw on key passages, historical and literary context, and selected comparisons among translations.
Each 90-minute Zoom meeting combines concise framing, close reading, and sustained conversation. You may bring a short reflection or passage note when useful, but formal assignments, grading, written editing, and assessment are not part of the tutorial.

Enrollment
Begin the tutorial
Tuition is $1,750 and includes enrollment in the group course. Payment may be made in full or in two installments of $875. Choosing the installment option commits you to the full $1,750 tuition.
